Its my first time writing a FR so it may be kind of lousy… But still please enjoy :) Read online that this very flight daily is hated by SQ air stewardess LOL Probably due to the short timing and the massive size of the plane + the layover time.
I'm a teenager from Singapore who just enjoys flying. I went to Hong Kong for a simple vacation with my family on the 10/10/14. We arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 3 by taxi. As my dad had done the online check-in at home, we got our BP in no time.

Immigration was fast because I'm a Singaporean and I could use the express counters, but there were very few people at the other counters for foreigners too.
Once at airside, I spent some time walking around the airport and eventually I reached gate B7. There were so many people taking pictures of the A380. I just took one and boarded the plane.
The A380-800 was just parked there (so elegant).

My seat was not the best seat to take pics :'( But the seats were really spacious and I suddenly remembered it was an A380 where everything is huge LOL.

I didn't take any pictures of the cabin but its called the previous generation Economy Class(?) The entertainment system is the Panasonic eX2 system.

(This pic was from another flight but its the same entertainment system)
We took quite a long while before we managed to take off due to heavy traffic in Changi :( There was this infant who cried so much before takeoff at the cabin behind mine.. Eventually the infant quietened down though :) The take off was rather quiet and I could really feel the A380's power during take-off. While we were flying to cruising altitude, the aircon system started leaking suddenly?! Luckily it was not very serious and I felt okay with the raining as it stopped eventually.
Drinks service and food service for brunch then started. I forgotten what the other meal option was but mine was the Western option.

After the meal service I just listened to some songs and took some pics while on the sky.

There was heavy traffic at HKIA too so we had to make a loop but soon we begun our descent into HKIA.

Some island which I do not know LOL Sorry..
I guess what's scary about landing in HKIA is that you can only see the land seconds before the plane touches down (cause I honestly thought that we would crash into the sea LOL). Landing in HKIA with the A380 was somewhat smooth despite its enormous size. The pilots really did a good job!
We have arrived at HKIA!

Some plane spotting on my way back to SG:

This was my plane back (SQ863 - B777 - 200) (Which I won't be doing a FR due to even lesser pics on my flight back)

We took a train to the immigration counters and there was quite a queue but it was my turn within minutes. What I do not like about HK immigrations is that instead of giving us a chop in our passports, they give us a super small piece of paper and it can drop out of the passport very easily :'(
Once we cleared immigrations, we bought the Octopus card (???) and we left for Kowloon station before taking a free shuttle bus to our hotel (Baden Powell International House). Just a tip in case if its not well known, if your hotel is at the Kowloon region (near Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui, they do provide free shuttle bus services to some hotels). The full list is at here: http://www.mtr.com.hk/en/customer/services/complom_free_bus.html
Yup thats all I'm sorry for the lack of information in many areas (Its my first FR) and thanks for reading! :D
Welcome and thank you for sharing this short and enjoyable FR.
Great spotting pics and glad that you had the opportunity to ride on the A380. It's quite a neat experience, especially the take off.
Thanks for reading!! ^^ Yea I was actually really excited to sit on the A380.. Like its THE A380 THE BIGGEST PLANE IN THE WORLD LOL
Wonderful pictures of the SQ whalejet! I can see you enjoyed your experience onboard SQ! Marvellous report as well!
I agree with HKG, indeed its very large! :D
Its not THAT marvellous when compared to others... There's still many areas for improvement :)
Thanks for this 1st FR.
SQ service proves once again its high standards.
I reckon that a window too close of the wings on the main deck really isn't good for outside pics.
Thanks for reading this report!! ^^ Yea It was hard to take pics :(
The arrival time is wrong, should be 1:20 pm, not am. Or else, something very wrong occurred during the flight :)
These overwing seats are indeed lousy for taking pictures. Nice wing view, but focusing is so-so. Smartphones were not designed to take pictures in the first place, a cheap camera would be much better.
Last time I went to HK, they stapled that tiny paper to my passport. Now they are saving on staples ? The HK stamps were taking a lot of passport page space, but I miss them.
This is a good first FR, and no doubt the next ones will be even better. It's great to have more and more contributors to this website from around the world. Thanks for sharing, and welcome on board !
Yea oops... :) How do you know that I'm using a smartphone? :O Yea they didn't bother stapling the paper to my passport?! :'(
Thanks for sharing this first flight report! It's very interesting with good narrative, but like Marathon, I would discourage use of a smartphone for future reports. Also, horizontal pics work best for the site. The meal looks good, as we have come to expect from SQ. Changi is the best airport EVER and definitely deserves your grade of 9.8. HKG is great too, but sooo huge with such long walks. Looking forward to more reports!
