MY BRITISH AIRWAYS ANALYSIS THROUGHOUT 2012-2019
Hello Everyone and welcome to this flight between Lyon and London, a routine that was about 7 years long.
I usually left from Heathrow, I had to go to the funerals of someone close to me, so it was a last minute flight and I did enjoy the cheaper fares from gatwick (BA opens also a route to Lyon from Gatwick in the winter for the Ski season).
You may have noticed I lived for a good couple of years abroad.
I have kept some pictures, emails and documentation of the flights throughout the years, and I have been flying on the same route, at identical periods (Christmas, Summer holidays, Easter…).
I thought I could do something different, instead of posting FR sporadically I am suggesting to pick up one flight per year, so that we are able to compare and note the evolution of the product offered by BA.
My aim is here to analyse the evolution of service legacies have offered over the years.

At the time, the fare included (for free):
A cabin luggage
Seat selection
Complimentary meal and drinks (incl alcohol)

For the quality and level of service detailed above, the average price ticket I paid of a SINGLE flight on the LYS - LHR is:
£56 for 2012
£49,6 for 2013 (including a flight redeemed with Avios)
£57 for 2014 (including a flight redeemed with Avios)
£65 for 2015 (including a flight redeemed with Avios)
£50 for 2016 (including a flight redeemed with Avios)
£52 for 2017 (including a flight redeemed with Avios)
£17 for 2018 (including 3 flights redeemed with Avios) - hence the lower average ticket price
£94 for 2019 (including a flight redeemed with Avios)

I - almost - always flew on the A320, BA very rarely operated any other A32X family members.

at lyon - saint exupery airport
My dad dropped me at the car park of the High Speed train station

From there to the checkin counters of BA (on the left hand side) and on the right hand side the customer service.

I started to check-in online but the lady at the desk still used to print my boardin pass "just in case"… For the youngsters that read us, back then humans weren't 100% confident in the IT systems!

The security was always at the right end of the T1 building.

Some spotting.. Vueling was already operating from LYS.

and our bird!

I think it was one of the first times I saw the new cabin.
What I found positive was the BA logo stamped on the headrest, the patern of the seat itself for the passenger's back. The new seat pocket wasn't under the tray tables but on top the seat, a bit more handy.
What I didn't like was the thickness of the seats that were a thinner, the armrest is very minimal and the pitch seemed to have been reduced..
The business class is now exactly the same seats with the same pitch, the only difference is the middle seat is blocked with an additional tray table in between.
And of course the headrest textile.

As you can see the economy class seats are excatly the same.

The headrest adjustable and foldable.

Adjustable tray tables as well.

The good thing I liked and found it very professional is the cabin screens, where the safety video was displayed.

The service:
free wraps
free drinks
free alcoolic drinks

Some cloud surfing during the approach.

Time for my legendary magazine review!

The corporate pages and this time around this was about the OneWorld alliance.
You can notice the changes that happened since: Air Berlin collapsed, Lan TaM merged and are about to leave the alliance to (perhaps?) join Skyteam.

at london - heathrow airport
I arrived at Terminal 3, like most of the times.

Can you see the Queens? Such a beauty!

I think - if i remember well - I went around or maybe it is from another flight?

Arrival at T3 is super easy.

The way to the Tube.

What I don't like from T3 is that the corridor is super lengthy - as the tube station is under the T1/T2 terminals.

Thanks for the report mate !
That we the moment when the airline was the most respectable !!
Now please stop writing it is super hard to keep us ex-aequo at the first place :)
ahahahahahah
I have a few more to write XD
Don't worry you will beat me
