Second leg of my journey to Tokyo! We spent some time at Soekarno-Hatta waiting since we were moved to an earlier flight on the previous leg.

The departure terminal is a completely different world from the arrival terminal. It was like the air-conditioning wasn't even turned on. The whole terminal was really stuffy. Poor from CGK here.

As mentioned in my previous report, it seems that most passengers on my previous flight were transferring to one of the three listed flights here.

Let's look at our plane for tonight!

photo img_8705photo img_8706

The call for the HKG flight started of proceedings, followed by the PVG flight and lastly, the HND flight (Mine!) I really like the purple LEDs on the aerobridge.

photo img_8713

Newspapers are provided to passengers at the door. The Jakarta Post and Asahi Shinbun if I can remember correctly.

Back into the huge B77W cabin arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration.

photo img_8715

An overhead view of the seat, followed by a point-of-view shot from the seat and lastly a shot of the cabin from my seat. So I took the risk and booked an aisle and window seat, leaving the middle seat empty and it paid off on this flight! My mother and I got the entire row for ourselves.

Let's have a look at the IFE system. From what I can tell you, the system is the same as the previous flight but there is much more content. Almost 20 more movies and shows to watch on this long flight.

The FAs serve a wet towel oshibori and a bottle of water. Not a fancy oshibori like SQ but still a decent touch.

GA's safety video.

I thought I'd show everyone the menu since it was available.

photo img_8728

Let's look at the seatback contents: Headset, Airsickness Bag, Safety Card, Arcade In-Flight Shopping Magazine, Stars In-Flight Entertainment Magazine and Garuda's own magazine, Colours.

Wow, an amenity kit! I wasn't expecting one of these. Socks, earplugs and an eyeshade in a nice pouch.

Take-off!

photo img_8743

Once we level off, the FAs start supper service. The hot box contained a sweet muffin and a chicken filled pastry. I had a wine to go along with the meal. Something hot to eat before I slept was nice.

Took this before I knocked out for the night.

When I woke up, the sun was beginning to rise on the horizon.

photo img_8747

2 hours before arrival, breakfast is served.

photo img_8748

Western option. Omelette, chicken chipolata, roast potatoes and tomatoes accompanied by cut fruit and yoghurt. The western option comes with a croissant too.

photo img_8750

Asian option. Japanese porridge with minced meat and scrambled eggs accompanied by soba and cut fruits along with a yoghurt drink.

Flying over Japanese territory!

photo img_8753

Obligatory toilet visit. Toilet is clean but can't really see any amenities anywhere. Also, don't mind the hair.

Arriving at Japan after 7 hours!

Nice morning over Japan.

Landed at HND!

After taxiing, we wait to disembark. Bye Garuda, this was a good flight.

  • Hi, FIAMAARIN.

Wow, I was surprised to hear that GA provided an amenity poach even in Economy class. GA seems to provide top-notch service, meal, amenity.etc....

On this route, I guess a clean toilet is the most important aspect for Japanese passenger who prefers super clean toilet. GA did a good Job.

    Thank you for your report.

    • Hi Cheapflyer.JP,

GA's service on this route is top-notch! The aircraft is clean and the crew is friendly. Certainly one of the better flights I've been on.

      Thanks,

      FiamaArin

  • A great report as usual! It's so nice to see that some airlines still make an effort to make the Economy class experience not only tolerable, but actually enjoyable! When so many carrier are going to 3-4-3 in Y on 777s (even CX! Ugh), it's so good to see a carrier that still has comfortable seats in Y and a good service as well. Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Kevin,

I hope to bring many more reports for everyone in future! Yes, it is sad indeed that 3-4-3 is becoming the norm. Even SQ is changing their economy price structure(and not for the better). Please stay tuned for more reports!

      Thanks,

      FiamaArin
