Ladies and Gentlemen, Aviation Geeks and Frequent-flyer! Welcome to a new serie of tripreports!
I just came back from my summer trip 2018 on Tenerife and because of this I have four flights, that I really like to share with.

1) UX1516 MUC-MAD: E190 (Business Class)
2) UX9048 MAD-TFN: A330-200 (Business Class)
3) UX9117 TFN-MAD: A330-200 (Business Class)
4) UX1517 MAD-MUC: Boeing 737-800 (Business Class) (you are here)

Booking the flight

I booked the whole trip quite early, but not on the Air Europa website because the prices were not the best. The seat selection and online check-in worked perfectly. Their customer service also added my new SUMA-Card (Air Europa's frequent flyer program), but could not order a vegeterian meal option as you will see later.

Going to the airport

When I booked the flight, I saw a cheap option to do some sight-seeing in Madrid. I had arrived the day before from Tenerife North, slept in a hotel and had six hours to check out the city. Madrid is really beautiful and even in a few hours you get many nice impressions.
This here is the Plaza Mayor:

I think, that I will come back, also because you can drink the best hot chocolate in the world there. :-)
But then, I was time to go to the airport. I recharged my trasport pass (2€) with around 8€ (Sol-Aeropuerto T2) and started the 45 minutes trip. The connection between Sol (City centre) and airport is quiet bead. That means, you have to change the trains twice.

Check-in and security check

Air Europa check-in is in terminal 2, where most airlines are. Priority check-in was fast and friendly.

Security check was fast and friendly,as you can see:

…but not that safe because some of officers did not really take attention.

My flight has not already been displayed. Because of this, I went to the next lounge. There, they told me, UX1517 will depart at the E-gates, where another lounge is and it would make sense to go there.
(On the screens, my gate was still undisplayed.)

Sala VIP Puerta del Sol is a modern and comfortable lounge. The lounge was full, but quiet.

From my seat, I had a great view. Maybe the best view, I have ever had.

The flight

Then, I was time to find my gate. Boarding started 10 minutes later. One agent also check the weight of the hand baggage. Luckily, only of the economy passengers because I had one bag to much. :-)

Later, when boarding started , they made a call for priority boarding.
My plane today is a Boeing 737-800 with the new livery and a new cabin.

Seats are the same as in econmy, but with a blocked middle seat. On that day, business class was nearly full.

I got a welcome drink (water or orange juice), a newspaper of my choice and a refreshing towel.

On this european flight, the meal has the same healthy style.

However, for me it is again too much.

On the screens, they showed some cartoons, flight information, a flight map and other stuff. They have also tried to show the safety video, but there was a technical problem. So it was old school, what I like.

Back to Germany! Down there, the Bodensee with Friedrichshafen and the Bodensee-Airport.

Here, a really good view to Munich city centre:

Thank you, Air Europa and EC-MQP, I had pleasant flights with you!

After receiving my baggage, I went to the S-Bahn station. From there, you can go the city centre, Hauptbahnhof (central station) or to Freising like me and continue there by regional train.
Regrettably, on that day, some construction work was going on. Two friendly persons of the railway company helped, when there were questions.

Conclusion

When flying with Air Europa in Business Class, it really depends on the airplane which operates. For example on the E190 you feel more like in Premium Economy, while on the A330 to the Canarian Islands (a 2.5h-flight), you are quite impressed that you get long haul business class seats (quite unnormal for a european airline). However, Air Europa cannot be compaired with Lufthansa or Air France, but for the cheaper fares that you pay, you still get a good and friendly service and sometimes more than you would expect!
