Ladies and Gentlemen, Aviation Geeks and Frequent-flyer! Welcome to a new serie of tripreports!
I just came back from my summer trip 2018 on Tenerife and because of this I have four flights, that I really like to share with.
1) UX1516 MUC-MAD: E190 (Business Class) (you are here)
2) UX9048 MAD-TFN: A330-200 (Business Class)
3) UX9117 TFN-MAD: A330-200 (Business Class)
4) UX1517 MAD-MUC: Boeing 737-800 (Business Class)
I booked the whole trip quite early, but not on the Air Europa website because the prices were not the best. The seat selection and online check-in worked perfectly. Their customer service also added my new SUMA-Card (Air Europa's frequent flyer program), but could not order a vegeterian meal option as you will see later.
Air Europa operates its flights from Terminal 1D. The check-in was already opened, when arrived about 3h before depature. With my Business Class ticket, it was possible to use the Sky Priority check-in desk and a frast track at the security check. Both went quite fast and the staff was friendly.
Terminal 1D (airside):
Air Europa is a member of SkyTeam. Because of this, I had access to the Air France/KLM lounge. The lounge was empty and cold snacks, a large variety of beverages and an international selection of newspapaers were offered.

I could already see the E190 on my way to the gate. It had the new livery, that I really like.
When boarding started, the gate agents asked Sky Priority passengers to board first. But as everyone was standing in front of me, there was no possibility to get throw the crowd.
On board of the E190, Air Europa offers a 2+2 configuration in Business Class. That means: No empty seat next to you. However, this was no problem for me, as I did not travel alone. Legroom in the first row was great and I feel in love with the large windows of the Embraer, too.
Later, I got a pre-depature drink (water or orange juice), a newspaper of my choice and a refreshing towel.
Taxing:
See you soon, Munich!
The cabin and the toilet:
Some minutes after take-off, the service started.
I ordered a cup of tea. As it was a hot drink, the stweardess gave me a biscuit. My companion, who asked for water, got some nuts.
After that, we got the meal. Air Europa is known for their healthy food on european flights. It was really good, especially the flan, and surely enough. On the picture, you can only see a part of the meal because I was not really hungry and swapped the large salad with my companion.
Throw the large windows, I could see for example the Bodensee (Germany)…
…Geneva (Switzerland) with the lake and the airport…
…Givors, a city near Lyon (France)…
…Toulouse and its aiport…
…the sharklets with the Air Europa logo…
…the Pyrenees…
…and finally some landscape of Spain!
We arrived on time in Madrid. Taxiing was long in comparision with other airports.
Challenge time: Find an airline that is not Air Europa!
The plane arrived at an E-gate. My connecting flight departs from an D-gate.
Thank you, Air Europa and EC-LKM, I had a pleasant flight with you!
And also thanks to you for reading. Leave a comment below!
Thanks for this FR.
It's too bad you don't get a blocked middle seat on the E190 as well.
UX catering in business class is definitely unique and high quality, something you wouldn't expect on an airline with BoB in economy short haul and basic meals in economy long haul.
Looking forward to your FR on the A330.
Are you the real simply aviation from YouTube ? If you are, then I am a big fan of yours and if your are not , you still gave us a damn good trip-report. Good job!!
No, sorry. My account is called Simply-Travel because I liked the word "simply" in Simply Aviation. However, thanks for this positive feedback.
Thank you for sharing. It looks like you had a nice flight with Air Europa, and the food looked quite good. I'm impressed with their menu and food options for a short flight like this.
