Ladies and Gentlemen, Aviation Geeks and Frequent-flyer! Welcome to a new serie of tripreports!
I just came back from my summer trip 2018 on Tenerife and because of this I have four flights, that I really like to share with.
1) UX1516 MUC-MAD: E190 (Business Class)
2) UX9048 MAD-TFN: A330-200 (Businees Class) (You are here!)
3) UX9117 TFN-MAD: A330-200 (Business Class)
4) UX1517 MAD-MUC: Boeing 737-800 (Business Class)
I booked the whole trip quite early, but not on the Air Europa website because the prices were not the best. The seat selection and online check-in worked perfectly. Their customer service also added my new SUMA-Card (Air Europa's frequent flyer program), but could not order a vegeterian meal option as you will see later.
I had arrived on this E190 from Munich and had about 45 minutes to get to the new gate. Walking from gate E76 to C40 took around 10 minutes. As I knew that I would have the chance to check out the lounge on the way back to Germany, I prefered to walk through some duty-free shops.
Boarding at gate C40 started a few minutes later. The gate agents also tried, that Business Class passengers board first and it worked.
My seat on board of this Airbus A330-200 with the old livery and the old cabin was 2K. I also had the possibility to reserve seats in the first row, but the IFE-displays there are much smaller. One reason, why I chose Air Europa, is the long-haul cabin on a 2.5-hour flight. The seats have already been quite old, but still really comfortable. However, the bed function (not fully flat) was less comfortable, than the lounge position. On this flight, the Business Class was completly full. (The picture of the empty cabin was taken on the flight back, but I wanted to show it in this report, too. The second picture is showing seats 3H and 3K.)
Later, we got a pre-depature drink (water or orange juice), a refreshing towel, headphones, a blanket and a pillow. Wow! The quality of the products was not the best, but still amazing. Thanks, Air Europa!
The safety video wa shown on the displays infront of each seat.
Push back:
See you later, Madrid!
After take-off, the cabin crew turned the IFE-system on. You could watch films, listen some music and follow the airplane on a map.
Flying over Portugal and leaving Europe:
At this time, the service has just started. There was a good selection of drinks, but only one food option: Pasta, a cake and two bread rolls.
Finished! Great, that Air Europa offered a hot meal, but the quality could have been better. The stewards also asked if we had any drink order.
Toilet:
The Atlantic Ocean and the sharklets with the airline's old logo:
Descending started and after some time, I could see the cost of Tenerife.
Hello, San Cristóbal de La Laguna!
Landing:
My flight was a national flight. Because of this, I arrived at the small airport in the north.
Taxiing to the gate was really fast.
Bye, 2K!
Thank you, EC-JPF!
The baggage arrived in less than 20 minutes.
Next to the baggage delivery are diffrent counters, where you can rent a car.
I had again a good flight with Air Europa. I still remember one of the stewards, who was really friendly.
Thanks for reading. Leave a comment with feedback!
Thanks for this FR.
Well I don't know if this was a domestic flight but the catering is clearly disappointing compared to the MUC-MAD leg.
The cabin is pretty nice for a 2,5 hour flight but not so much on a real long haul flight, especially compared to the 787.
Hi Simply-Travel, thanks for sharing this very nice report! What a difference the equipment makes in experience--going from an E190 on MUC-MAD with just normal Y seats in J, to an A332 with long-haul J on this short 2.5 hour flight. It's always nice to have a widebody on a regional flight. Too bad there were no choices for meals, but I guess it's nice to have a hot meal on a short flight. Nice aerial pics on landing.
Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing the Air Europe lounge in MAD on the return sectors.
Thank you for this report! Even if they are not the newest ones, the seats look perfect for that duration.
The catering is surprising compared to your MUC-MAD flight: real plates instead of plastic jars, but the food is quite different from the healthy options you were offered!
I have to say, that also on this flight, nearly everything was made of plastic (excluding the pasta-plate, knife and fork and the glass).
Was the wifi on this flight operational, or did you just not use it?
As it was not for free, I did not use it. But someone in my row wanted to use it and the flight attendant also try to make it working. I do not know if it worked later, but thias situation definitely shows the flight attendant's effort.
