I enjoyed a wonderful two weeks in Japan, visiting many places I normally wouldn't have with my family. Really can't wait to come back to this wonderful country. This will probably be one of my shorter reports as I didn't have the hands to take many photos.

Arrived at Haneda early because I wanted to avoid the evening peak hour on the Tokyo metro. JAL uses check-in row F at the International Terminal. The terminal was quite crowded during this time.

Checked-in and crossed over airside. We went to our gate, passing by the duty-free shops. Many shops were still open for now.

We arrived at Gate 112 and we parked ourselves near a charging pole. The waiting area is nice and with benches without  armrests, you can definitely take a nap here.

Boarding pass for this trip. Seated in 45A which is an exit row window seat.

At around 10:30pm, we received unfortunate news that our flight would be delayed for 90 min due to late arrival from the previous flight. There was nothing to do but watch a stream using the airport WiFi.

Finally, the boarding time was announced and we lined up to board to plane. The flight was almost full so I had to go to another part of the plane to put my belongings.

Seated in the exit row was a good experience. The crew explained the responsibilities during an emergency. The best part of seating here is being able to use the lavatory without disturbing your neighbors. However, you aren't able to use the entertainment system till the plane reaches cruising altitude.

A bottle of mineral water was given out by the crew prior to take-off.

After take-off, a tomato jam pasty was served. The taste was okay but the pastry was very dry. Not the best pastry I've had on a flight.

Reached cruising altitude and I took out my screen to snap some shots of the flight map.

Snagged a can of Yebisu right before the lights went out.

Obligatory toilet visit. Neat and clean.

Continental breakfast on this flight. As mentioned on the previous report, I'm not a big fan of continental breakfasts but the appetizers were pretty good.

Interesting view on flight map!

Finished my meal while watching some Top Gear reruns.

    Thanks for this FR.
Did JAL provide any drinks during the delay ?
With punctuality being so imortant in Japan, I bet they were annoyed by the situation.
The offering is in par to what European airlines offer on similar length night flights, but quality must have been better on JL.

No window is a disadvantage in my opinion too as it seems to me that you do not have a window to your possession and I can't recall I have seen one on any 777 (for that row).

I don't really understand airliners serving pastries with fillings as they are often way too dry. Can't recall that I've ever seen a tasty pastry on board of any of my flights.

      Hi ThomasDutch,

The window was slightly behind the seat. Not exactly alinged but you can still see out of it. A bun or an onigiri (seeing that it's JAL) would definitely have been a better option.

Hi FiamaArin, very nice well-photographed report. I also ❤ JAL--any airline that keeps 9-abreast in Y on 777s (and 8-abreast on 787s!) is great in my book! Was this one of the 772ERs in their funky 3-4-2 configuration? It's such an unusual configuration, but it's great because it gives more choice and the 2 side is perfect for those travelling in a pair.

Looks like 45A is a good seat and the seats are set far back enough that the slide from the exit door doesn't seem to hinder the legroom.

    Thanks for sharing!

      Hi Kevin,

Yes indeed! This was one of their 3-4-2 772s. In fact, it was the exact same plane I flew for my SIN-HND route! I do agree with you that the 3-4-2 configuration gives more options to different categories of travellers i.e. Families, Couple's, etc
