Introduction
Last week, I was sent to Wuxi for a sudden work assignment. The routing was planned by my company's travel agent so I only received it a day before my flight.

Check-in
I arrived at around 8am to check in for my flight. Singapore Airlines uses Terminal 3 for its flights and the economy check-in can be found at row 4. SQ has began using self check-in and self baggage check-in for economy passengers. I tried to use the self check-in kiosk but was unable to complete the process because of my connecting flight and thus, I went to the regular check-in desk.
After I was done, I headed straight towards the departure lounge.
airside
After crossing immigration, I took a walk around the terminal. I visited the butterfly garden and the free cinema for the first time but I didn't spend much time there.
Taking a look at the FIDS for today's flight.
After that, I went plane-spotting for my bird today. And here she is.
The flight today is taking off from Gate B5.
An obligatory boarding pass shot with SQ's plain BP.
And our next door neighbor.
I went in early so the waiting area was pretty empty when I took this picture.
After half an hour, it was finally time to board. Sitting on the upper deck, I took a separate air-bridge up.
Earbuds and newspapers are available at the entrance of the plane.
ON-BOARD
Passing by the business class cabin on the way to my seat.
My seat for today. Seat 72A. SQ's now older economy cabin.
I decided to visit the lavatory before the flight. The lavatory is clean and well-stocked with various amenities.
Now that I'm seated, we can take a closer look at the seat.
Upper deck window economy seats have these little cubby holes for your bags. However, they also show the age of the aircraft as the ones next to my seat would not stay closed during the flight.
Seat pitch is average. I personally had an inch or two between my kneecaps and the seat in front.
Taking a look at the old Krisworld entertainment system.
A hot oshibori was handed out once the cabin door was closed.
Menus for the flight were also handed out shortly afterwards.
Let's have a look at the meal options. We have a continental option and an Asian option.
We pushed back quickly and were soon in the air. I managed to spot BMTC from the air.
Let's now take a look at the seat-back contents. We have the KrisShop Duty-Free magazine, SilverKris magazine, KrisWorld In-Flight Entertainment magazine, flight safety card and air-sickness bag.
Brunch was served 30min after take-off. I picked the Asian option of Lor Mai Gai and Har Gow. Brunch was served with fresh fruit and a hot roll. The meal was satisfactory but not outstanding.
The crew then handed out small pots of sea salt caramel ice cream. I really enjoyed this ice cream.
Spent the rest of the time resting and watching the airshow.
The upper deck economy cabin is arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration.
Descending into Hong Kong.
And we've landed!
Pulled up next to some very beautiful tails.
Disembarkation
And now saying good-bye to the gentle giant.
Arrival into Hong Kong airport.
Thanks for sharing such a very well written report with amazing pictures!! I've heard a lot of good things about SQ and can't wait to try it out!! Hopefully, I will soon in the foreseeable future!
Thanks once again and happy travels! ;)
Thank you for your kinds words. I hope you will have a chance to experience SQ. Please stay tuned as I will be uploading my return flight on their new 787-10.
While the flight seems to be pretty decent, but the main meal looks far from appetizing. SQ's Catering should have done a better job in presenting it..
The har gow (prawn dumplings) were quite dry as well, not moist as dim sum should be. The glutinous rice was good though. Overall experience was good but not spectacular.
Beautiful report as always! When flying between two of the world's best airports, what better way is there than the SQ A380! Printed menus in Economy on a regional flight just feels fancy, as once would expect from SQ. The main dish is not visually appealing, which doesn't mean it doesn't taste good, and it's nonetheless a full hot meal on a 4 hour flight in Y!
Thanks for sharing!
