Welcome to my last and rather short trip report on this series.

After an overnight stay in NYC, it was time to fly back to Toronto. As I had arrived in JFK late the night before, I opted for an evening flight out of La Guardia. Though my scheduled departure was 7PM, I arrived at the airport around 1 due to an midday checkout from my hotel.

When reaching the counter, the WS agent offered to put me on the earlier departure. To my surprise, it was on the Boeing 737-600. Numerous times before I had tried booking a flight on the aircraft but I was always met with a time conflict.

Immediately my bags were checked and I made my way to the gate.

In January WS still operated from the older terminal at LGA.

Leg room was great even though the flight was short.

Manhattan and Queens could be seen as we made our way to Toronto.

High ceilings allowed for a clear view of Upstate NY.

Beverage service was short and quick. I opted for a coffee and buscuits.

A firm landing on RWY 05 was a clear indication that my trip was over.

Conclusion

It was a pleasure flying on this rare bird. Westjet has now stored most of the 737-600 fleet. Though short, my flight was enjoyable. The route offered great views of Manhattan, Greater NY and Niagara Falls.

  • Ahhh a short flight on the short B736! A rare airplane, one I hope to log in, unless WestJet have announced it's retirement already. Thank you for sharing this! I am still getting to your previous reports in the series...

    • Thank you for reading! From what I saw online, the aircraft are still flying between Alberta and British Columbia, out in Western Canada. I hope you enjoy the other reports as well.
