This was a weekend trip I took with a few colleagues to KL. Being the person in charge of booking the tickets, I found for all 6 of us very affordable airfares to/fro KL, with the flight up on Firefly for RM99 all-in each (including 20kg check-in luggage allowance), and return on AirAsia for RM45 all-in (excluding check-in allowance) each, total for around SGD60 per person for a round-trip to KL! A superb deal I would say!
Firefly now operates from Changi Terminal 2 along with the rest of the ex-Budget Terminal airlines. Check-in was swift and hassle free at the almost empty counters an hour before departure and was handled by DNATA. Proper boarding passes were issued, unlike the boarding receipts previously issued when Firefly operates from Budget Terminal. Guess FY wants to distinguish itself from the rest of the LCCs.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Immigration was hassle free and soon we were in the departure hall. Not much variety of planes spotted.
Four Silkair aircrafts in this shot!

SQ A330 taxi into the gate.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Our flight would be departing from gate F55, which seemed to be a dedicated FireFly gate that day.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Tiger A320 at our gate… not. It was parked at the adjacent F56.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Our gate would be a bus gate as the ATR72s operated by Firefly would be too small to dock at the airbridge stands. Instead it would be parked at a nearby remote stand.

Down the stairs to the holding area and soon boarding was announced by row numbers. No difference as we were all packed onto a single bus.

Boarding the bus that will ferry us to the prop.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Our prop was parked at the stand just after gate F60. 9M-FYB would be operating the hour-long hop to Subang this morning.

Boarding the Firefly.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Welcomed aboard by 2 very friendly and well-groomed Firefly girls in their fresh and new uniforms.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Settled at my seat at 6F. Flight was about 70% full today, with the front few rows rather empty.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Firefly branded seatbelts. Legroom is sufficient for this short flight.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

All the stuff in seat pocket, including MH's inflight magazine. Well, Firefly is a MH-subsidiary afterall.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Very efficiently, all pax were boarded and doors were closed. Safety demo was performed. Flight time was 1hr, with actual flying time of about 50min.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Pushback and engine startup.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

Taxied to Rwy02C for takeoff. Passing by the old Budget Terminal tarmac, with terminal already torn down. Quite a number of private jets owned by Sands Corp. were parked there, most probably flying high rollers in.

Takeoff from Rwy02C, bound for Subang!

Firefly Singapore → Subang

We initially encountered some bumpy weather.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

But it soon cleared after we climbed higher. Flying altitude was 16,000ft. Service announcement was also made.

Firefly is the only airline that offers a free choice of snacks and drinks on flights to KL. Shortly after seatbelt signs were switched off, a crew first came down with a basket offering choice of snacks, followed by another crew with choice of drinks on a tray. Service was excellent!

Firefly Singapore → Subang

This morning, we had a choice of peanuts or chocolate chip muffin. I requested for both, which was gladly offered by the crew.

Firefly Singapore → Subang

For drinks, there was a choice of soya bean milk or apple juice.

Soon, we started our approach into Subang. Flew past Subang during descend.

Conclusion

This was my 3rd flight on Firefly and it was as usual, a very pleasant experience with great crew and much welcomed refreshment service. Coupled with the small terminal in Subang Skypark, hassle free immigration and customs and short distance from the city, I managed a record time of just 3h45m from my home doorstep in Singapore to hotel doorstep in Kuala Lumpur!!
