Hello, and welcome to this new Flight Report, today I'm reporting the FRA-DXB leg of my TLS-CBR trip. Here is the routing :
Enchainement de vols

- 2
- 3
- 4FRA-TLS in Economy with Lufthansa - A320
- 5
- 6FRA-DXB in Business with Emirates - A380
- 7DXB-MEL in Business with Emirates - A380
- 8MEL-CBR in Business with Qantas - B737
Our flight from TLS to FRA was quite late, ½ hour late actually. I was the last to board this magnificent A380.
My seat for the next 6 hours : sadly, I couldn't select a window seat… This seat is miles away from the one on the 777 : direct aisle access for every seat in a 1-2-1 configuration : much better for an airline named 5th best in the world by Scamtrax. I really don't like the bling-bling effect, though i've got to admit after flying with lots of world class airlines, Emirates is one of the best (before I started writing FRs, I'd flown SQ's fantastic 777 business class, BA's horrendous 777 business class, and QR's fantastic Qsuite).
I found headphones, a pillow and a blanket on my seat.
The footbox (which isn't too narrow btw) :
ICE IFE :
I chose orange juice as my pre-departure drink :
But if you're thirsty, you can always chose a drink from the mini-bar, which isn't refrigerated (a total waste IMHO).
Safety video is screened, and we push back :
It's a good time to show you the menus (sorry for the quality of the photos) :
Oh, and I almost forgot to show the headphones :
Time to eat dinner ! The inexperienced flight-reporter that I was at the time forgot to take a photo of the (fantastic) Traditional Arabic Mezze, and only took a photo of the Beef Tenderloin with Peppercorn sauce after he started eating it. He did, though remember to take a photo of the Apple Cheesecake and Fine Luxury Chocolates.
Now, it's time to head to the lavatories : clean, and very bling-bling.
When I returned, I found my bed made, so I decided to go to sleep. the blanket was very comfy, and I slept a good 3 hours I think.
I then decided to watch a movie, and then I turned on the tail camera : what a beautiful view !
The inexperienced flight-reporter that I was also didn't take a photo of the breakfast, which was good. We then touched down with a smooth landing and I said goodbye to my seat.
Goodbye, A380.
Hi SIA380, thanks for sharing this pre-pandemic EK A380 report. Obviously since Covid EK A380 reviews have been rare. It's good to know that EK A380s will be around for a while despite so many other operators dropping their entire fleets. I've always wanted to try the EK A380 but never really had much opportunity being mostly loyal to oneworld. I'm hoping they'll still be doing at least one Trans-Tasman route with the 388 once NZ and AU finally open up again. I think that would be a perfect opportunity to try them out on a shorter flight.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment !
It's a shame EK isn't part of one of the three global alliances, but it's cool that they fly some 5th freedom flights like SYD-CHC, KUL-AKL or JFK-MXP...
