Routing

transit in munich

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2nd part of this FR on my way to Colombia. As I said before, I was coming from Barcelona and now we are in Munich airport. It was a long time ago since my last time at this airport and things had changed. There's a new satellite terminal and the coffee machine isn't free anymore.

So after disembark from the A321 it was time to change terminal. This is made by an underground train, which is very fast and modern. If I'm not wrong, every 5 minutes there's a ride.

Once at the other side, flights were very different. Longhaul and non-schengen. Passengers from all over the world were passing this area.

A view from the aircraft being prepared for today's flight.

And backwards, the A321 used on my previous flight is being pushed back again.

Boarding started at 11AM, some good 45 minutes before takeoff. This flight was 100% full today and many passengers were coming from India and connecting in Munich going back home in Canada.

On board

Once on board I was surprised because of the new fresh cabin. It was my first time on the 787 and I was impressed with the size of the window, very big. On longer flights I like to to take an aisle seat because I like to walk through the cabin during the flight. As I had an International connection in Canada, the airline is not charging fares for the seating selection, which I made some months ago. Legroom was also very decent for me.

Pillows and blankets were available on this flight.

Once the boarding was completed safety demonstration was showed at the screens. The menu on board was also available at the PTV.

Pushback started on time and we headed to the runway, taking off westbound. Soon we made a right turn and headed to the Atlantic Ocean. By the time it was quite smooth. Some of the pictures were taken by my indian seatmate, who decided to take also some pictures during the flight.

I really love the wings of the 787

Meal service started about an hour and a Half after take off. Before that indian veggie meals were served to some passengers. For us there were 2 options: spicy pasta and chicken with vegetables and mashed potatoes. As I'm not a big fan of spicy food I decided to go with the chicken, which was the best option. As appetizer we had a carrot and apple salad which wasn't really good, but main meal was great. Well cooked, not hard and sauces were savoury. I've been reading some complains about AC food but I really don't have much to hesitate about. As a dessert we had a chocolate cookie, which was good. Drinks arrived a long later, maybe theyy can serve it at the same time (or before). Presentation could be better buy overall it was a very decent meal.

And after all a good coffee to finish my meal.

By the time we were about to enter into the irish airspace.

After lunch lights were gradually set down and crew passed through the cabin requesting to "close" the windows, so passengers can rest. It was time to walk a bit.

A few pictures of the cabin and galley. Here, at the back of the cabin there were drinks and pretzels available for passengers.

Cabin crew was passing through the cabin with drinks very often. During the flight I was talking at the rear galley with a guy from Tampa and a family coming from Bilbao. The american guy was coming from Turkey and the Basque family was going to visit their grandsons, who are living in Toronto. We were talking for a really long time, but turbulence appeared and seatbelt signs were turned ON, so we had to return to our seats.

So it was time to get enterteined by the IFE. And yes, I like SpongeBob Squarepants :P

About an hour and a half before landing lights were gradually turned on and people was awaking. Before landing in Toronto, a small chicken wrap was given to all passengers. It was delicious (and I was hungry), so I got twice.

Not much longer descent started. The weather in Toronto wasn't the best today and during descent we saw big storm clouds which were avoided by the captain, but it was a bit bumpy.

On finals through YYZ

And touched down in Canada after 8 hours and 15 minutes in the air. Quite long today. We taxied to the gate and soon disembark started. I headed through the machines which scan the passport and went to walk a bit in Toronto Airport before my last flight of the day to Bogota.

Thank you very much for reading this FR, I hope you like it!!
