Hello everyone, welcome to the last part of the trip from Munich Germany to Kaohsiung Taiwan. This report will cover the return flight from Hong Kong back to Munich with Cathay Pacific Airways.

On the day of flight we arrived at the airport at 22:30pm, roughly 2 and half hours prior to the scheduled departure.

Since we had checked in online, we printed the baggage tags and boarding passes with one of these machines and tied them to our luggage.

Then we headed to one of these self-service counters, where we scanned the baggage tag and dropped them by ourselves.

Then we immediately proceeded our way to the air-side. Our flight was assigned at gate 5 which is not so far away.

We waited for the boarding right next to the gate.

This was the plane that took us to Munich tonight. B-LRT delivered to Cathay Pacific Airways in September 2017. It had just returned from Denpasar.

Boarding started at 0:36am, I was at Group 6 of the boarding sequence.

The menu had a very colorful front cover.

Cabin during boarding. The flight was almost full and since I purchased the Essential fare class, I could select seat in advance.

I went through the catering menu, and since the flight was departing from Hong Kong, they served some local dish from Hong Kong. Some of the choices were in collaboration with the One Michelin Star restaurant Yat Tung Heen.

The snacks, in addition to the cup noodles, they also served the traditional egg tart from Hong Kong.

At 1:01am boarding was completed and then our captain came on PA and announced that the flight time would be 12 hours and 35 minutes. Safety demonstration video was then followed.

Pushback eventually started at 1:11am which was pretty on-time. Unfortunately the Top view of the camera was not working.

About 10 minutes after takeoff, the cabin light was turned on and seatbelt sign was turned off.
I then started to watch the first movie of the flight, Now You See Me.

50 minutes into the flight, the snack service was skipped and dinner was served directly. I opted for the Sweet and sour pork with pineapple which was very tasty. This is one of the local dishes in Hong Kong. For the the drink I had an orange juice.

Another 35 minutes later, breakfast was served. I chose the Pork and dried vegetable congee with Chinese dim sum. I was so satisfied with the food. I also requested a Hong Kong style milk tea as the breakfast drink.

When the cabin crew came back and collected the tray, I requested a coffee with milk, but it disappointed me again.

Soon, the cabin was illuminated with some sort of mood lighting.

Conclusion

A very solid experience with Cathay Pacific Airways. I was glad that they introduced many local ideas into the flight, that has strengthened the identity a lot. The entertainment, catering are one of the best in the economy class.

  • Noting down the movies you saw through the flight is a pretty good touch, especially since I never seen anyone else do that before,
