Hello, welcome back to my flight report! This time, I'll be reporting my flight back to Jakarta from a short trip to Bangkok.
Flight routing
- 1
- 2QZ257
As our flight operates from Don-Mueang International Airport (DMK) it'll be hard to took BTS Sky Train then changed to public bus in Mo Chit so we went to the airport by taxi from our hotel in Sukhumvit area. It took nearly 45 minutes drive.

Thai Airways HQ.

Make sure you're arrived at the right airport and terminal!

Arrived at Terminal 1, it was already packed with so many people. Since it was kinda early to check in, so we got something for lunch at this Food Court area between T1 and T2.

The toilet signs remind me of Japanese signs. Some part of the airport, like its toilets and the food court already updated but some area just dated. Ceiling and flooring can't lie. This toilets located on so called waving gallery / sky terrace I'm not sure what they named it but nothing really interesting.

Check-in and baggage drop process was extremely stressing me out. IDK, there's no self check-in machine to be seen, there's no dedicated baggage drop, and the worst part they just mix all flight all together like why? Your flight departs in 30 to 45 mins altogether with other flight that will depart in 60 to 90 mins. So it took almost more than 30 to 45 minutes to line and reach the check-in counter and don't forget you have to brought your luggage by yourself to the scanning machine located at the end of every check-in island from the check-in counter, and of course you're obligated to wait till your everything was okay. This is way from efficient and effective that LLC's stands for.
Then after the crazy packed checked in process we head to the immigration. We went to the ASEAN line, another silly things from this airport not stopping there in check-in process. Right no one really at the immigration counter! Was it stop there? No! The immigration officer took so long to stamp a passport in front of me just because a family not in single counter like OMG! He's big enough okay? He's not 7 years old! His parents just two counters away. Just stamp it! The security check are also empty, seems they didn't really care for what they're doing.

This area packed with people that lined up for DFS pick up, GST/VAT refunds. Like, My oh my! Some people just lining up for ฿ 200 refunds? Its only EUR 5.59/ USD 6.28! You have to wait for 20 minutes for that? Never ever.

The FIDS appeared in English, Thai, and Mandarin. Yes we head to Gate 23 where my flight will board from.

Malaysia Air Asia (AK) A320 with Terengganu C/S livery, A330 Thai Air Asia X (XJ) , B787 Scoot (TR) , A330 Thai Lion Air (SL)

I walked to the very end of this concourse. Nothing much happened here so I walked back to the boarding lounge.

My plane wasn't there yet when we arrived at the boarding lounge, then after I walk around the plane was already parked at the gate 23. PK-AXF, a Airbus 320-200 for my flight back to Jakarta. This plane was delivered to Indonesia Air Asia (QZ) in January 2009. On September 2015 PK-AXF transferred to Indonesia Air Asia X (XT), but since the XT ceased its operation early this year so all of the A320's transferred back to the QZ.

The Flight
Indonesia Air Asia QZ257
Aircraft: Airbus A320-200
Registration: PK-AXF | Msn: 3765 | Age: 10.3 Years
Configuration: Y180
Origin: Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok, Thailand (DMK)
Destination: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang - Jakarta, Indonesia (CGK)
Flight Date: Friday, 12 April 2019
Actual Flight Time: 3 hours 05 minutes
Flight Distance: 1435 miles / 2315 km
The boarding process is fairly organized, but its kinda different with what QZ usually done in Indonesia. Usually they will called the Read Seats passengers row 1-5, 12 &14 first, then they'll call by zone 1, 2, 3, etc. But in DMK they just call the read seats then everyone else after that. So yeah kinda long line and people that flew with QZ before kinda questioning why they didn't call it by zones, etc.

Note that Indonesia Air Asia X (XT) stickers by the door. The male cabin crew and I guess he's the FSM welcome and great us warmly.

Boarding completed, door closed, safety demonstration done manually of course first in Indonesian, then in English (I really don't like the pre-recorded voices both of the Indonesian and the English version. it was really flat like and boring), then the plane push back, taxi, and take off.

The seat back pocket contain. Safety card, in-flight magazine (Malaysian and Indonesian version), BOB Santan Menu and merch catalogue, and also Santan Breakfast menu. Note that the safety card also still XT's

Air Asia Group domestic and international flight route. Consist of AirAsia Malaysia (AK), Indonesia AirAsia (QZ), Thai AirAsia (FD), Philippines AirAsia (Z2), AirAsia India (I5), AirAsia Japan (DJ), AirAsia X (D7), and Thai AirAsia X (XJ).

Soon after the seat belt sign turned off the Buy on Board (BOB) service started, the menu variety from hot meals, snacks, cup noodles, drinks, and also coffee. Before the service begin, I already requested to the FSM to served our PBM around 7 P.M. because we both just had late lunch at the airport before. The crew really great that flight. But, yeah they're really honest IDK if it was good for selling their product because one pax behind me ask if the hot meals or snacks that they're offered was good and tasty, but the female cabin crew just answer it "haha (giggles), I actually never tried it before, so I don't know if its good or not". They should have known how the product that they offered, as I'm in PR and Marketing world so it is probably better if they said "It was good but maybe it taste slightly different because we're on-board, cabin pressurisation, altitude wise, etc. etc."

Peeping out of the window and seemed that the sun already sets.

Cabin situation after the BOB service. The standard LCC seats and the seat pitch.

My pre-book meal was served 7 P.M. past little bit. I have chosen the Roasted Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce and Spiral Pasta with Chicken Sausage, the PBM option with coffee or mineral water as the complimentary drink, I chose mineral water with no doubt. The roasted chicken was quite tasty and also the sauce was really good, the pasta rather bland so I used the leftover sauce to added up the taste. Why I bought two? Because one inflight meal is never enough. Hahaha.
As I booked the ticket i was chose the value pack that actually included the 20 kgs baggage allowance, standard seat selection, and one vegetarian/non-veg packages (but I've never received one), since I ordered this PBM aside of that value pack. So yeah.

Ready to descend to Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, then the cabin light went out. Our plane docked at the T2 gate D7 so there's no long taxi after we land.

Disembark and head straight to immigration.

Indonesian passport holder done their immigration way before this area, this area is for ASEAN, foreigner, and crew. Note that CX crew just queue, CX and QR the only two FSC remaining that operates their flight from T2D but started of May 2019 both of them will operates their flight from/to T3 CGK and T2 will be dedicated for domestic terminal for SJ, QZ, and ID and also International LCCT for Lion Air Group (JT, ID, SL, OD), Air Asia Group (QZ and AK), etc.

I have to wait for almost 45 to 60 minutes to wait for my baggage. This is ridiculous!

After done with baggage, customs, and everything we head to the public bus terminal at the very end of T2F to catch a shuttle bus to Bandung. I don't really know what is the construction all about too bad their park need to be demolished. The park before it was demolished in January 2019.

This is the full flight plan from DMK to CGK.

Hi Emyrss
You have a lot of stingy people around and I've seen some travelers even waiting more than twenty minutes for less than that around the world. I don't really understand why authorities are even considering refunding such a low amount.
Oh definitely..... The international part is overcrowded, while the domestic part is easy going and quiet in terms of traffic.
That sounds just like you are in Amsterdam :)
IKR! like come on it is nothing, if they've refunded like 100$ or something that is okay lah. I didn't know that AMS airport took that long, is that so?
thank for the report
i never understand people who wait long line at the Vat refunds, for some baht lol
Thanks for stopping by Armin! IKR! It was kinda crazy for me, they want to waste their time for that small amount of money.
