This report will cover the connecting flight from Taipei to Tokyo Narita with EVA Air. This will also be my first time to fly the Boeing 787-10. As of November 2024, EVA Air has 12 B787-10, with another 5 on order.

After arriving from Hong Kong, we passed through the security check again. Our flight to Tokyo Narita was assigned at gate C5. Our scheduled boarding time was 14:50pm, we still had some times left so we just visited those duty-free shops and brought ourselves a drink.

As the boarding time approached, we returned to the gate. Our ride to Tokyo Narita. Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner B-17811, delivered to EVA Air in April 2023.

Boarding was started at 14:45. As indicated on the boarding pass, we were in zone 2 of the boarding sequence. We boarded the plane right after the priority boarding.

My seat 42A in the second compartment of the economy class. A pillow was placed already on our seats.

The loading of this flight was quite low, similar to the previous flight. From my observation, it was around 30% with many empty seats.

At 15:05pm, our captain Mr. Watanabe informed us the flight time of 2 hours and 45 minutes, and the cruising altitude to be 39000 fleet. Pushback was initiated at 15:10pm.

Shortly before takeoff, the cabin light was switched to some sort of mood lighting.

Eventually we took off from runway 05R at 15:26pm


Very soon after takeoff, we disappeared in the rain cloud. Then I took a look at the main menu of the IFE.

Next, I checked what meal they were going to serve for this flight. There were two choices.
1. Wok Fried Shredded Pork in Yu-Shion Sauce, Steamed Rice
2. Braised Beef with Mushroom in Tomato Concasse, Roasted Potatoes


I started to watch the movie, Twisters.

I tried to connect the inflight Wi-Fi service. EVA Air provides 30 minutes free service which is good enough for this kind of short flight.



30 minutes after takeoff, the meal was served. I opted for the beef option with orange juice as the drink. It was very tasty. Not long after that, all the windows were dimmed.

At 16:28pm, I visited the lavatory. Apart from the hand wash, there were also hand sanitzing gel, aroma mist and body cream.

The sun began to set by the time we reached Kyushu in Japan.


Passing through Kagoshima Bay. Sakurajima volcano could barely be seen below. About 20 minutes later, the cabin lights were turned off.

At 17:20pm, our captain announced that we would be landing at 19:05pm and expected to start the descend in 10 minutes. Cabin lights were once again turned on for final landing check.

At 19:04pm, we touched down on Tokyo Narita Airport. The total flight time was 2 hours and 37 minutes.
