Hello everyone, welcome to the fifth part of the trip to Asia. This report will cover the flight from Tokyo Narita Airport to Seoul Incheon International Airport with Asiana Airlines. This is the first time for me to fly with Asiana so I was quite excited. As of November 2024, Asiana Airlines has 6 A380-800, and they were deployed to several location. These include Tokyo Narita, Los Angeles, Taipei and some days in Frankfurt. As we know that Asiana Airlines will merge with Korean Air in the future, maybe this is the last trip I fly with this airline. In addition, Asiana Airlines has already announced that they are going to retire their A380 fleet in 2026.

The day before departure I tried to check-in online, but it did not work out and I could not even find my booking, so I had to do it in the airport counters. We stayed in Shinjuku so we took the Narita Express directly to airport terminal 1.

The check-in counters of Asiana Airlines are located in aisle H of the terminal 1 South Wing. There weren't many people and I managed to check my luggage and got my boarding passes seamlessly.

Our plane to Seoul Incheon had just arrived. It was rare for me to see two A380 from two different airlines parked together.

Then we brought some souvenirs before we headed for the security check.

We brought some other souvenirs as we passed by several duty free shops.

We continued to head for our gate 45, which is located at the No.4 satellite terminal. Most of the passengers had arrived and waited in front of the gate.

Our ride to Seoul Incheon. Airbus A380-800, HL7641 delivered to Asiana Airlines in December 2016.

Boarding was started on time at 12:40pm. I was the first to board at the economy class.

My seat 53A at the lower deck. When I booked the ticket, I tried to see if there was any seats at the upper deck, but all the window seats were occupied.

Food rest and power socket were available.

I was quite surprised that the connecting flights information was already available.

At 13:12pm, our captain announced that the flight time would be 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Pushback was started 10 minutes later, and followed by the safety video.

Taxing to the runway.

At 13:42pm we took off from runway 34L.

Seat pocket items included the duty free, sea sick bag, headphone and Safety information sheet.

Then I started the PTV menu.

I decided to watch the movie, The Watchers.

Unfortunately, the weather over Japan was not good, I selected the seat on the left side so that I could see the Mount Fuji, but it was very cloudy and nothing could be seen.

At 14:08pm, Lunch was served. There was only one choice. This included a chicken rice and a snack box with egg tofu, a waffle and water. I opted for a coke for the drink. Plastic cutlery was included in the box.

Soon we were leaving Japan from Fukui Prefecture and flew into the Sea of Japan.

Passing through Lake Shinji 宍道湖 and Nakaumi 中海 in Shimane Prefecture.

At 15:07pm, I visited the lavatory.

This was the first time I saw an airline placed coffee power to absorb odors in the lavatory.

At 15:35pm, announcement from the flight deck that we were starting our landing preparation.

The weather in Seoul was not good as well.

Flaps were lowered for landing. The visibility was very low and nothing could be seen.

At 16:08pm we landed on runway 15R. Total flight time was 2 hours and 26 minutes.

Finally we parked at gate 10 of terminal 1.

Thanks for sharing this FR. OZ has always been an under recognized carrier due to its small footprint ex-Asia, but remains one of my favorites and will be missed whenever they finally get absorbed into KE since I think they provide a slightly better experience than KE. The downgrading of meal services to these snack boxes is disappointing, but their food quality of mains remains high.
